What happens when we don’t have a proper closure? Ghosting is a very common practice in Japan, and becoming even more so for younger generations all over the world This short film follows a day in the life of Momo, a young Japanese woman living in Tokyo, as she relives key moments of her past, in search of answers after her boyfriend of one year disappears for no apparent reason.
Life is a Dream
music for a visual narrative
A young woman floats free from reality in this film from London-based director Marc Oller Marc Oller, a member of British and Spanish production company Canada, presents a hallucinogenic interpretation of La Vida es Sueño (Life is a Dream)—a 1635 play by Spanish writer Calderon de la Barca, which the filmmaker first read when he was a teenager. “I was struck by the fragile dichotomy between dream and reality” “At the time of reading the original play, I was struck by its deep reflection of the fragile dichotomy between dream and reality," explains Oller. "In my version, I depict a young woman sliding across this threshold, while she guides us through her own thoughts and the crisis of identity which she encounters along the way."
